Specific way to ask?
Q.
Is there a certain way
your supposed to ask a person to be an attendant in your
wedding?
A.
There is no specific
way to ask someone to be in your wedding party. Just be
sure that the person understands what is involved in
accepting the responsibility (purchase of their clothing,
paying for their transportation if they live out of town,
etc.) It is best to talk with the person privately, to
write them a letter, or to phone if you can't get
together.
Begin by asking your maid of
honor first. That way, if for some reason she can't be in
the wedding party, you can choose someone else rather than
"promoting" one bridesmaid over the others. Some people
like to ask the maid of honor, then the two of you invite
all of the bridesmaids to lunch or coffee and give each
one an identical box or gift bag, that when opened, says,
"I'm getting married and I would like you to be a
bridesmaid." Only do this if you know your friends well
and you know that they will all be excited and respond
positively. After you have chosen the ladies, you can
choose the flower girl and ring bearer by asking their
parents first, then talking with the children.
