Q. We are planning a
"Halloween Wedding" my problem is am having such a hard time finding
Halloween Wedding Decorations, Invitations, Cakes, etc. Do you know
where I can find everything I need for my Halloween Wedding?
A.
At Halloween, it is easy to go
overboard and make your wedding into a spectacle rather than a
tasteful event. The choice is yours about how far into
the Halloween mode you want to go. You will need to
decide if you want the wedding party or guests to wear
costumes and whether you want black cats, witches, and other
typical things associated with Halloween to be part of your
day. If you want costumes, visit a costume shop and see what
they have. You will need to reserve items very early,
since the better costumes go quickly at Halloween.
For invitations, you may need to
go with a fall look. You may be able to find them with
pumpkins, and I know you can find them with fall leaves.
Your invitations dealer should be able to provide information.
You may find a black cat, but not necessarily a scary one.
Following are some other ideas
that should get you started.
- Use black tablecloths at the
reception with either an orange topper over it or an orange
napkin in the center of the table under your centerpiece.
- Twinkle lights are available
near Halloween in black, orange, and green. Use them
throughout your reception area.
- Consider using pumpkins and
cornstalks as decorations. Large pumpkins and/or
large carved ones can be placed throughout the room. You
could use small jackolanterns for centerpieces or use small
pumpkins filled with fall flowers. For the ceremony, use
a pumpkin filled with flowers on the altar or other area near
where you will be married.
- Choose flowers in shades of
orange, rust, yellow and other fall colors for bouquets.
Add some fall leaves for additional color.
- Consider serving pumpkin
cake as the wedding cake. It can be decorated with black
and orange. Be careful, however, about getting any
frosting on clothing, yours or the guests, because the food
coloring permanently stains.
- Serve hot spiced cider as
one of your beverage choices.
- Ask your DJ for music that
fits the holiday. They should be able to suggest a
variety of songs from movie sound tracks that would be
appropriate.
