plans are being mad for my parents 40th wedding
anniversary celebration. the plan is for them to re-do their wedding vows and
have a reception and perhaps a family party after the reception. my parents are
56 years of age. I am of the belief that usually wedding vows are redone on the
50th anniversary ? of course I like doing things in a different manner. are 40th
renewal of vows unheard of ? what colors would you suggest for the wedding gown
it will be in October
A vow renewal ceremony can be held at any time.
Couples who had a destination wedding often renew their vows shortly after the
wedding at a family reception. Others renew their vows on or near various
anniversaries or at family reunions and other gatherings. I encourage people
to celebrate the important events in their lives whenever they can, as you
never know if you will have the opportunity to do it at a later date.
Since your parents have been married for 40 years,
your mom would not wear a traditional wedding dress for the vow renewal (unless
she is able to wear her original dress). Instead, she can choose a dress or a
gown that fits the formality of the entire event. She should choose a color
and style that looks best on her; there are no hard and fast rules. Since the
ceremony will be held in October, she may want to choose a darker color rather
than a pastel.
Good luck with the planning. It sounds lovely.
