We are having a garden
party lunch reception after our morning ceremony. We are planning on serving
wine only. Is it appropriate to not offer a bar as well?
The choice to serve wine or *any* kind or amount of alcohol is absolutely up
to the bride and groom and hosting parents.
There is no rule that you must serve alcohol, and frankly, from the way you
mentioned it, and for after a morning wedding, it sounds like a bar might well
be inappropriate for your "garden party luncheon" reception style.
Your plan to serve wine only sounds very appropriate and classy. Go with this
plan if it feels right, and do not worry about other expectations.
Best wishes--
