ForeverWed.com Planning > Chiming of the Bells

I was wondering if you could help me?  I am not sure when it is the most appropriate to sound the chiming of the hour for my wedding.  Every wedding I have been to has done it at a different time.  I would guess that if my wedding is to start at 5:00PM that it should sound then warning everybody to be seated because the wedding is beginning.

People ring the bells at different times for different reasons.  Some do it before the ceremony, like you mentioned, as a signal that the ceremony is beginning.  Others do it after the ceremony as they are leaving the church as a signal that the wedding is over and they are now husband and wife.  Do whatever seems most natural to you and what will best fit into the order of the processional and recessional.
