Q. I have been asked to be Matron of Honor, there is also a Maid of Honor.  Please advise me as to the logistics in the processional/recessional order for the both of us

A. Having both a maid of honor and a matron of honor is becoming increasingly common.  When this occurs, the bride must decide how she wants to handle the duties.  I suggest that she divide them up so that one person stands next to her, one signs the marriage license, one gives the toast at the reception, etc.

The order of the processional will depend on the size of the aisle at the church and how the bride wants to handle things.  If the aisle is wide, the two of you can walk in together with the person who will stand next to the bride being on the right.  If the aisle is narrow or the bride doesn't like the look of two people together, then the person who stands next to the bride will walk in last and the other person just before her.  There do not need to be two best men.  It is fine for one person to walk with a groomsman.  The guests don't really care.
