Q.
My Fiancé is enlisted in the
Navy...I want to
have a military wedding, but I am not sure the protocol involved
with the idea of a military wedding. Can we do an arch of swords
with him being in the Navy? Is it ok for us to have people of
different ranks in our wedding party? What about having officers
of different branches?

A.
Is your fiancé an officer? Only officers
can have the arch of sabers. If he is, he can talk to his
commander to arrange it. A military wedding is much like any
other wedding except that the groom and the other men wear
uniforms. If the arch of sabers is held, your fiancé will be
expected to invite his commanding officer and give him/her a
seat of honor at the ceremony. You can include men of varying
ranks as long as they are all either officers or enlisted men,
but not a mix.
Best wishes to you.
