A.The traditional wording for
a separate reception would be one of the following, depending on
who is hosting the event. If you will host it at your home:
The pleasure of your company is requested
at a reception to celebrate the wedding of
(bride's maiden name)
to
(groom's name)
at (location/address)
(city, state)
(day, date, month)
(year)
Or less formal, something like:
(your groom/husband's name) and Yulia (your married last name--if
you'll
share the same one)
cordially invite you to join them
for a reception celebrating their recent marriage....
If someone else will host, although it's at your house:
(Host's/hosts' name(s)
request the pleasure of your company
at a reception to celebrate the wedding of
(bride's maiden name)
to
(groom's name)
at (location/address)
(city, state)
(day, date, month)
(year)
Also, what is the appropriate way to let people know where we are
registered? Should we put it somewhere on the invitation?
According to traditional etiquette, it is never considered polite
to include registry information-- or ANY mention of gifts-- in/on
an invitation-- even here in southern California where our
societal rules are sometimes a bit looser than other parts of the
country.
Also, it's good to keep in mind that a destination wedding like
you plan is actually most like an elopement, for which guests are
traditionally not required to give gifts at all (though many will
probably wish to do so anyway).
In general, the most gracious and polite way to handle any gift
preferences you have is to give any registry or other gift-related
information to your parents and bridal party members. Then *if a
guest asks about gifts* , they have ideas to share, but the
subject of gifts was never "officially" brought up.
Wishing you a lovely wedding and enjoyable reception-- and lasting
happiness in marriage!
