We are asking our guests to bring a photo of
themselves with us to put in the guest book. This way we have a photo album of
us through the years as well as the story to go with it. How do I
request this in a wedding invitation and what wording should I use?
Your idea sounds lovely. I would include the information about the pictures
on a separate card that you include in the invitation. Tell your guests that
because they are special to you, you would like to remember their presence on
your wedding day by having them bring a picture that was taken of you and them
that you can place in your guest book. You might also ask them to include
some information about when the picture was taken. You might get some great
stories about events that you had forgotten.
I wonder if there might not be guests who either
forget their pictures or don't have a picture of them and you. Some of my
clients have done something like what you are suggesting, but they took
pictures of the guests as they arrived at the reception. One bride used a
Polaroid camera. The others have purchased disposable cameras. If you do
this, assign at least two people to take pictures of the guests as they
arrive, perhaps older teenagers. The brides purchased albums that have
pockets for the pictures and a line underneath to describe the pictures.
Then, they had the guests sign on the description line rather than signing a
guest book.
By having a camera handy, you will be
able to have current pictures of those who don't bring one.
