Hi I am looking for a gift for a "like a father"  my real mom and dad passed away a few years ago and I am getting married and have two "parents" that have kind a adopted me over the last few years and whom is walking me down the aisle but everything that says father or dad has something about through my childhood years and they weren't there then. only as an adult.  Do you have an idea....and also a song for the father/daughter dance.

I was sorry to hear about the loss of your parents, but how inspiring that these other people have taken you under their wing since then.

Sometimes when you need a special gift for a special relationship, you need to think "outside the box" a little to find the right thing.
Sometimes that makes shopping a little harder, but it also tends to make the resulting gift more meaningful.

There are lots of good gift-giving options, beyond the traditional "father" or "mother" gifts.  Certainly there are many good "engraved" gifts you can find at your local mall or through ads in bridal magazines. They range from the completely decorative to the functional.   If you think about what this man likes, what his hobbies and habits are,
etc., you might see something that seems appropriate.  Then you can choose to have it engraved with any personalization or message you choose.

I find that photographs are very gracious and well-received gifts as well.  Both of the "parents" you mention would probably cherish a framed portrait of them with you.  Many of my clients buy beautiful frames and
mats as gifts, with a note that they will later fill it with the wedding portrait of the recipients' choice.  Closest friends and family seem to
generally love this gift idea.

And do plan ahead a bit to make sure you get all the special photo groupings you want from your wedding portraiture.

Special interests or hobbies can also provide inspiration for gift-giving.  Either a specific gift, or a gift certificate to a specialty vendor, can be a welcome and meaningful choice, especially for men. You might find some additional ideas in the following article:
