what is the proper wording for a note to be inserted in our invitation requesting guests to give cash gifts rather than physical gift because we are getting married in the philippines and we will be residing here in the US

Unfortunately, it is considered a breach of etiquette to mention gifts in any form, particularly money, in a wedding invitation.  An invitation is a request to join in the celebration of an important event in your life and it should never be about gifts.  If you do ask for money, you run the risk of offending a portion of your guests and they may decide to give nothing rather than comply.

The way to let your guests know what you prefer is to spread the word to family and friends.  They can then verbally share the information with those who ask.  Some people don't like giving money, so be prepared to receive some gifts.
