Can get some ideas on what colors I should use for
my summer wedding, how do I style my hair, & know what kind of dress will
work for me.
One very useful way to approach your wedding color scheme is to look at
the colors which are available in bridesmaids' gowns. If some gown
shade appeals to you, it becomes the "known quantity" (the color you
know you can base other color choices on), then you can either match or
contrast your flowers and other decorative details to that color.
Often this simplifies the color scheme process in comparison to trying
to choose colors "out of your head".
You should also think about how light, bright or dark colors will look
in the setting and time of your wedding. Some locations have very
"busy" backgrounds, so clean, clear colors stand out best. Others have
very calm colored interiors, where soft shades are right at home. Some
couples like the formality of darker colors for evening weddings, while
others love the simple elegance of lots of white, champagne, and/or soft
metallic. It's all a matter of your personal tastes and vision.
As for your gown and headpiece/hair style, a lot of the issues which
determine the best styles are quite personal, as Glenna mentioned.
However, your wedding mood, location and season can affect your choices,
as well. For a summer wedding, you will probably want a gown with
shorter sleeves and softer, lighter fabrics. For a very contemporary
mood, choose a gown with simpler details and silhouette, as well as
clean decorations-- less lace, perhaps more bead ornamentation. For a
garden wedding, you might look for very light-weight fabrics, soft
details, more lace and perhaps floral patterns.
There are also some general issues relating to your height and figure,
so if you'd like some suggestions, feel free to write back with more
details about the areas of your figure which you'd like to accentuate or
hide, and any general descriptions such as whether you are tall or short
or have short hair or long hair, I'd be happy to make some specific
suggestions.
Best wishes and much happiness to you.
