Where can we start looking for information on planning our wedding?

Create Her Ring

We just got engaged!  Where can we look for information on planning our wedding?  are there many planning resources available online or off other than the bridal magazines?

Great Question!  There are many avenues out there for the soon to be Bride.  Here's a list of features from ForeverWed.com and other Bridal Sites to get you started!

1.  LOCAL RESOURCES
To begin, check out our site, ForeverWed.com for everything you need to plan a wedding in your area. From the ceremony and reception to what you'll wear and where you'll spend your honeymoon, you can start your research right here.  visit our site at http://www.foreverwed.com

2. PUBLICATIONS
Your city newspapers, magazines, and the phone book are good sources of information on vendors like florists, photographers, and DJs. Some of these publications feature special wedding supplements. Another excellent resource is Christian Bride Magazine.  You can purchase it online at their website http://www.christianbride.com  or in your local grocery store outlet.

3.   LIBRARIES OR BOOKSTORES
For the most up to date listings of locations, associations, or businesses, you'll find the best reference books and publications at your local library or bookstore.

3.  BRIDAL ASSOCIATIONS
You can find wedding consultants, florists, photographers, musicians, and rental stores by contacting your local Bridal Association.  They will be happy to supply you with a list of their members in your area.

Below are some numbers for the national associations:

Wedding & Portrait Photographers International (WPPI): www.eventphotographers.com  or (310) 451-0090

American Institute of Floral Designers (AIFD): www.aifd.org  or (410) 752-3320

The Association of Bridal Consultants: www.bridalassn.com  or (860) 355-0464

The American Rental Association (tents, etc.): www.ararental.org  or (800) 334-2177

American Federation of Musicians: (212) 869-1330

The Pros (a DJ network with New York, Philadelphia, and Washington, DC, offices): www.thepros.com  or (800) THE-PROS

4.  TOURISM OFFICES
A great place to start looking for reception sites if you want to go beyond the hotel reception room.  Your tourism office should know about landmarks and other buildings in the area where you can have your reception at.  Also think about resorts, public parks, restaurants, golf clubs for a wedding reception.

5. YOUR LOCAL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
A great resource for local businesses in your area.

6. ASK OTHER COUPLES
Ask your friends who have just gotten married.  They are the best resource for vendors in your area.  They can let you know what they thought of their service providers and whether or not you should use them!
