My fiancé would like to have his son (age 6) stand in our wedding, as I will have my children involved as well. It will be a small church ceremony with my 12 y/o daughter serving as my attendant, my 8 y/o son walking me down the aisle, and my 5 y/o son as ring bearer.  I believe my fiancés brother will be handling the official duties of best man, but we have chosen to keep the ceremony limited to ourselves and our children.

Is this wrong? I know it's a little unorthodox to have a 6 y/o best boy, but is it really a bad idea?

As long as he has his brother doing the "official" duties, I see nothing wrong with having his son stand with him.  It will mean a lot to the child to be a part of the ceremony. Consider how he would feel to see the other children at the altar and not to be included.

Consider giving each child a piece of jewelry or ring when you exchange rings so they too feel like they are coming together as a family.  The same if you do a Unity Candle.  Have a candle for each child to light.  You may even want to be introduced as the Smith Family.
