My daughter and husband to be,
father of their 7 month old daughter would like to give her a ring
after exchanging their own at their ceremony. Any ideas on how
they should go about this? has it been done before?
Honoring children in the wedding ceremony
is quite common, however, most children are older and are usually step-children
who are being united with the bride or groom as they become a family.
If a ring is given, the parents
should first decide what size ring to give. Will it be
something she can wear as a child or as a teenager or adult?
She is really too little to wear one now and not choke on it.
An alternative might be to give her a pendant, perhaps a locket
with a picture of her and one of mom and dad in their wedding
finery.
When children are included in the
ceremony, it occurs after the couple have exchanged their vows
to one another. The officiant can help the parents
determine the best timing and help them craft the wording to use
.
Best wishes to all of you.
