Invite brides mom and sister?

Q. The majority of our family was not invited to a bridal shower thrown by the bride's aunt, with the exception of my mom, myself and my sister. My cousin is hosting a bridal shower for our side of the family. Is it necessary to invite the bride's mother and sisters?

A. Most of your family probably wasn't invited to the first shower because of the second one. Guests other than the mothers and the ladies in the wedding party, if they live in town, shouldn't be invited to more than one shower. If the bride's sisters live in the area, you can invite them if you want to, but be sure to tell them that they aren't expected to bring another gift. The bride's mother shouldn't feel obligated to bring a gift either..
