How to Choose your Best Man

The choice of the best man is the sold prerogative of the bridegroom. It has been customary in the past to choose a best man from a group of single men, however, in today's world many best men are themselves already married.

Who can you choose as a Best man? a mans brother or best friend is usually the first to be chosen for the responsibility, however, a more distant relative or life long companion can be chosen.

Before making an offer the bridegroom should consider the following points concerning his choice for best man.

1. Would he be happy to accept the duty
2. Does he have the ability and enthusiasm to carry out the detailed talk of organizing the event.
3. Can he make a speech to a large group of people?
4. Is he quick to deal with any emergency? Can he handle any slip ups that may occur
5. Can you rely on him to safeguard the ring, will he remember where he kept them?
6. Does he get along well with the bride?
7. Is he available to take part in the ceremony? does he have time to help in the pre planning?

The best man you choose should give alot of thought to the question of accepting the role. If he has any doubt then he should decline at once. The decision must not be left to the last minute as the groom will not have time to replace the chosen best man.
