According to etiquette, no mention of the fact that it was an elopement is made
formally on the invitation. You would word the announcement like any other
couple making their own announcement.
Miss Shannon (your middle name, your maiden
name)
and
Mr. (groom's full first, middle and last name)
announce their marriage
Saturday the fifteenth of June
Two thousand and two
[city and state of wedding]
If people knew you were planning a big wedding,
and when, and receive this, it should be obvious that you've decided to elope
instead. If they didn't know you were planning a bigger wedding, it will just
be an announcement like for any other wedding.
