FEATURED FLORISTS

Flowers
answered by Gayle ODonnell

Q.I'm getting married in April.  What flowers should I use?
My flower girl is wearing the same color and dress as my bridesmaids. Is this
normal?

A. Please provide more information about your wedding colors, and where you are located in the country.  April is a great time to use tulips, and other spring flowers, but it depends on what the rest of the color scheme of your wedding, and the style is.  You would be best to talk to a florist in your area, and they will be able to tell you what is available for them to work with in April in your area.

As for the flower girl, it is perfectly acceptable for her to wear the same color as the bridesmaids, however the style of the dress should take into account her age.  If she is a very young girl, it is sometimes more appropriate to have her in a younger style for the dress (such as a fuller skirt).  Not knowing the style of dresses you have selected for your bridesmaids that is a tough one to make a call on.  Just make sure your flower girl looks like a little girl, rather than a little girl trying to look like a woman. :-)
