If the parents of the groom are
marrying off their last child, what type of dance is done? Do the parents sit
in the center of the circle? Is Jewish music played? Are non Jews invited to
partake?
The following information is taken
from the book, "The Everything Jewish Wedding Book." The dance
is called a mazinkeh-tants.
"The parents are seated in the
center of a circle, sometimes presented with wreaths to wear by
the bridal couple, and all sing and dance in their honor. This
is a unique recognition of the "empty nest" and the
accomplishment of the classic Jewish goal - marrying off all of
one's children. The music is usually the Yiddish Song Di
Mazinkeh Oysgegeben (our youngest child is given in
marriage)."
I could find no information about
whether non-Jews can participate. You might ask your rabbi for
their thoughts.
Best wishes to you.
